This Level 1 workshop introduces the Kodály-based approach to music education, focusing on curriculum development, lesson planning, and teaching techniques for Kindergarten and Grade 1. Participants develop musicianship skills using movable do solfège, rhythm syllables, and hand signs, with study of pentatonic and diatonic scales, sight-singing, and rhythm reading. Basic choral conducting techniques for children’s literature are introduced, and participation in a large performance ensemble is required.
